WELCOME BACK THE JOANS ---- CAMPY ROCK BAND THAT SHOWCASES JOAN CRAWFORD IMPERSONATORS
If You Want To See The Band Next Door, Go Next Door
The mission of The Joans is simple; give legendary Hollywood star, Joan Crawford, the rock and roll voice she deserves.
The Joans want to make others aware of the groundbreaking over the top persona that was and is Joan Crawford by embodying
her unique spirit through a musical recipe of one part new wave pop, a dash of garage rock, a generous helping of camp, and a
pinch of theatrics topped off with original songs. Served hot, it pleases any crowd hungry for something out of the ordinary.
Chicago has given The Joans an enthusiastic welcome. The Joans press ranges from the Chicago Tribune to the cover of Nightspots
magazine, twice. The Joans have appeared at The Flesh Hungry Dog Show at Jackhammer Chicago resulting in their largest audiences
ever, The Spot, Ronny's, The Note, CAKE Chicago at the Red Line Tap, The Empty Bottle, The Acorn Theatre in 3 Oaks, MI headlining
their New Years Eve gala, The Music Box Theatre on Mother's Day, the TPAN Aware Affair benefit gala, Mary's Attic, and The Joans
were recently thrilled to play the main stage at the Milwaukee Pridefest this June, 2008 and have been invited to play the legendary
Folsum Street Fair in San Francisco for their 25th Anniversary this fall.
Formed in April 2007, The Joans is the brainchild of David Cerda, Chicago playwright and Artistic Director of Hell in a
Handbag Productions and became a reality on April 24, 2007 as part of the entertainment for an annual Hell in a Handbag benefit.
The band's influences include Blondie, The B-52s, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Joan Jett. www.myspace.com/thejoans
FRANK D'RONE IN CONCERT. A BENEFIT FOR LA LUMIERE SCHOOL.
Frank D'Rone's great voice, musicianship and commanding stage presence, along with his ability to
master the interpretation of a song lyric, lend themselves to any entertainment atmosphere and make
it easy to understand why he became a recurring guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and was
requested by Frank Sinatra to appear in the lounge whenever “The Chairman” was performing in the show
rooms of the Las Vegas and Atlantic City venues. ” “Whenever I play Vegas, I want Frank D'Rone to
open for me,” said Frank Sinatra.
“A singer with an individual sound that invites no comparisons; a singer who can seemingly sustain a note
forever; one of the few singers who can change a mood of a room from song to song by moving from one emotion
to another naturally. He holds an audience.” Nat “King” Cole
This event is a benefit for LaLumiere School, produced by Tom McComas. For more information on Mr. D'Rone,

SUNDAY, JULY 13TH: DEEP FRIED PICKLE PROJECT, 2PM EASTERN TIME: A FAMILY SHOW
Build a Singing Straw! Make a Kazoo, or how about constructing a Shaking Shaker? The Deep Fried Pickle Project will show you how to build
and play these zany, multicolored music-makers.
The Deep Fried Pickle Project (DFFP) is a delectable musical treat. They pride themselves on making jug-a-billy music that
would make Hee-Haw's Grandpa Jones shake, rattle and roll over in his grave. Founded in '00 as a jug band, DFFP now mixes
other American roots forms into the breading batter as well. Bluegrass, Folk, Rockabilly, Blues and Honky-Tonk tunes pepper
their set lists, and their performances include hillbilly-style punk-rock covers and rollicking original tunes.
The Deep Fried Pickle Project is Alvan Selvidge on Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals, and Stumpf Fiddle; Daniel Boone Daniel on Washtub
Bass, Harmonica, Kazoo, Red Bull Horn, Craftsman saw, and Kazoo; Jim McAllister on Drums and WashboardZilla.
What sets the Pickles apart as a band is the fact that they can play kids shows, adult shows and then host a "KinderMusic "
kids instrument building workshop all in the same day. Their flexibility and devotion to music education have made them a popular
act to book for festival promoters and talent buyers.
During the Acorn show, the children will learn how to make homemade instruments, including singing straws, kazoos, and shakers,
from all recyclable materials. The Pickles get the whole family involved, while also teaching the kids how to play the instruments.
After the instruments have been perfected, the band will kick it off onstage during a fantastic Pickle performance. The Pickles have
been known to bring the kids and their new instruments onstage to jam during the show—always a delight for the entire audience.
