
THE ACORN THEATER PROUDLY ANNOUNCES A NEW SCHEDULE OF ACTING AND WRITING CLASSES FOR ALL LEVELS, INSTRUCTED BY KATHERINE HART, accomplished professional actress and producer and instructor in the fields of vocal training, communications and the theater who brings her many years of experience to the Acorn Theater for a unique and custom communication training process.
THREE OAKS, MI (February 6, 2008)-Due to a myriad of requests, The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, MI is announcing the addition of acting and writing classes, instructed by Katherine Hart, Executive Director of Classes, to their other events.
The classes, which will be held in three different sessions, will bring the education of acting, performing, and writing to the Harbor Country community, and will allow performers to enhance and hone their skills at one of the Midwest's most reputable live performance venues.
Classes will be held in a variety of different fields, including acting, playwriting, play reading, voice, and many others, for ages 17+ (teen classes will be added Summer, 2008).
The mid-winter session will be held in eight-week sessions, from March 8th through April 26th (class size limited to 15):

Saturdays, from 11am to 1:30pm: $175
EXPLORING VOICE-OVER ACTING:
Saturdays, from 2pm to 4pm: $150

Sundays, from 11am to 1:30pm: $175
PLAYREADING, FOCUSING ON THE CLASSICS: IBSEN, CHEKHOV, STRINDBERG, O'NEIL, WILLIAMS, AND MILLER:
Mondays, from 7pm to 9:30pm: $150
The Spring session will be held May 10th through June 28th, and the Summer session will be July 12th through August 30th. Class times and descriptions will be announced on the Acorn Theater web site (www.acorntheater.com) in the coming weeks.

KATHERINE HART, a resident of Chicago, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Drake University and a Master of Fine Arts from Temple University. She also attended the critically acclaimed National Theater Institute and is currently entering her 25th year of teaching at the Tony-award winning prestigious Victory Gardens Theater. She is an accomplished professional actress and producer as well as an instructor in the fields of vocal training, communications and the theater arts who brings her many years of experience to the Acorn Theater for a unique and custom communication training process.
She was a guest Artist in Residence on tour with the National Theatre of the Deaf and the National Theatre Institute. For over thirty years she has taught acting and directing at the following companies in Chicago and New York: Victory Gardens, DePaul University, Loyola University, Steppenwolf, Remains Theater, St.Clements Theatre, Direct Theatre, MoMing Dance and Arts Center, MCA, and lead acting and voice workshops at The Playground.
Katherine has also been a guest artist in residence at the following universities: Harvard, Yale, Drake, Temple, Bradley, Brown, DePaul, Vassar, Trinity College and Brandeis.
She has been featured on several television stations and newspapers across the nation and was the Communications Expert for ABC-TV's exclusive airing of Monica Lewinsky's 2002 interview with Barbara Walters. Katherine has also worked with CNBC-TV and ABC-TV in voice and body language techniques.
She recently wrote and acted in a one-woman show, “Goy from Glencoe,” (a celebration of surviving her Irish-German heritage while living in Glencoe), which played during the Summer 0f 2007 at the Gallery in the South Loop and will be remounted in the Summer of 2008 at either Victory Gardens or Steppenwolf.
