THE WINE SHOP AT THE ACORN THEATER WELCOMES CHICAGO ARTIST LISA TOMIKO MACRI FOR HER FIRST SOLO SHOW (SEPTEMBER 29-NOVEMBER 2)

ARTIST RECEPTION TO BE HELD AT THE WINE SHOP ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2-4 PM EST

September 30, 2008—Three Oaks, MI—The Wine Shop at The Acorn is pleased to present the works of Chicago artist Lisa Tomiko Macri, for her premiere solo show. A reception will be held on October 12 from 2-4pm EST, at 107 Generations Drive, Three Oaks, MI, in The Acorn Theater, to celebrate this work.

Chicago painter and art teacher, Lisa Tomiko Macri attended various art institutions in Chicago to discover her own creativity and means for art in her life. Macri grew up on the north side of Chicago in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Dealing with the fast paced life of the city, she wanted to make sense of her surroundings to create a balance and control over an ever-changing environment. Lisa has shown her work amongst other artists at group showings at Three Walls Gallery, Old Town School of Folk Music and Chicago Printmakers Collaborative.

In her first solo show, Macri creates colorful abstract landscapes to define her ethereal environment as it exists in rhythmic patterns, cubist shapes and space. Her landscapes were rendered with luminous and subtle colors to create a sense of harmony, warmth and calm, which is needed in such a busy place.

“Painting landscapes is a wonderful place to go when life can feel overwhelming with deadlines, demands, traffic and changing locations,” says Macri. “Every day that I step outside, I take in my day in a different way. I find that I have a new perspective of my city and new experiences to digest. I like to paint different tones and choose simple shapes to work with to signify the surrounding environment, be it home, school or traveling to other places.”

Pieces in Macri’s show will be on display at The Wine Shop from September 29 through November 2. For more information, please call 269.756.3879 and ask for Jill, or visit www.acorntheater.com.
